UNIMPREGNATED DENSIFIED LAMINATED WOOD – HIGH DENSITY

1 GENERAL
This specification governs the quality requirements of an Unimpregnated Densified Laminated (UDEL)
wood of high density, consisting of layers of cross laminated wood beech veneers, bonded and densified
under heat and pressure. The material in insulating oil has temperature index of at least 105.

2 APPLICATION
The Information on this document is the property of BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS LIMITED.
It must not be used directly or indirectly in any way detrimental to the Interest of the company.

The material is used for coil support ring, winding support flange, supporting cleats etc. in transformers,
reactors etc.

3 COMPLIANCE/PROPERTIES
The material shall comply with the requirement of latest edition of IEC 61061 -3-1:1998 Type C4R.

Dimensions and tolerances

Thickness, width and length of the UDEL wood shall be stated on the order. Tolerances shall be as per
COPYRIGHT AND CONFIDENTIAL

IEC 61061-3-1.

4 PREFERRED THICKNESS (mm)

10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 75, 80, 90 and 100 mm.

5 PREFERRED SIZES
1200 x 2400 mm. However, other sheet sizes may be purchased as per requirements.

6 METHOD OF TESTS
As per IEC 61061-2

7 SAMPLE FOR TEST

Two sheets of ordered thickness in 500 x 500 mm size prepared from the same batch, shall be supplied
for testing and approval.

8 TEST CERTIFICATE
Test certificate should contain all properties of C4R grade UDEL wood as per IEC 61061-3-1

Unless otherwise stated, three copies of test certificates shall be supplied along with each consignment.
In addition, the supplier shall ensure to send one copy of test certificates along with their dispatch
documents to facilitate quick clearance of the material.

9 PACKING & MARKING

The boards shall be sealed in high-density polyethylene sheets/ suitable packing to prevent ingress of
rainwater and to prevent any damage during transit.

Each package shall bear the following information:

1) AA22002: UNIMPREGNATED DENSIFIED LAMINATED WOOD – HIGH DENSITY

2) BHEL Order No.
3) Manufacturer's Name & Grade.
4) Thickness, width & Length,
5) No. of boards/Components,
6) Net weight & Gross Weight
