Z3 - 1. ZERO POINT ESTABLISHING AND CHANGING METHODS

The zero point establishing and changing methods are described below using the X-
axis as an example.

1) Press the function selection key [MESSAGE] to display the NC ALARM screen
and check if "Z70 ABS. POSI. ERR" is displayed on the screen.
- Yes → Press the function selection key [SETTING] and the [F1] (OPE.
PANEL) soft-key in order and set "VALID" for the item ZERO
POSITION SET.
- No → END

2) For which axis are you going to adjust the zero point?
- Milling axis → To 3)
- Turret axis (SL-154, 204) → To 4)
- Other axis → To 5)

3) Select the on-site adjustment mode*.

Change the setting of parameter to "#6437.4 = 1" and select "M" axis for the
pulse handle operation target axis.
* While pressing the FEED HOLD button, turn the PANEL key-switch in the
following positions in order: "ON" → "OFF" → "ON".
Make sure that the FEED HOLD lamp is blinking

4) Select the on-site adjustment mode*.

Change the setting of parameter to "#6437.0 = 1" and select "T" axis for the
pulse handle operation target axis.
After that, press the turret station setting switch (increase) to unclamp the
turret.
* While pressing the FEED HOLD button, turn the PANEL key-switch in the
following positions in order: "ON" → "OFF" → "ON".
Make sure that the FEED HOLD lamp is blinking

5) Press the function selection key [SYSTEM].

6) Press the [F3] (NC SYSTEM) soft-key.

7) Press the keys: [2] (DGN, MESSAGE) [INPUT].

9) Press the [F1] (ABS-SRV) soft-key. Check if pressing the page selection key
[ ▼ ] (advance) once displays the screen shown below.

NOTE: If the zero point is established at this time, "OK" is displayed to the
right of STATE. Otherwise, "NG" is displayed.

10) Key in # (0) ( 1) using the data entry keys.

(NOTE: For the Z-axis, key in # (0) ( ) ( 1).)
Check if "ORIGIN SET" and "INITIAL SET (ABS.)" are displayed to the right of
STATE and at the lower left area on the screen, respectively.

11) Move the X-axis (or the Z-axis) to the zero point using the manual pulse
generator.
For the milling axis, look at the rotating section through the milling tool holder
mounting hole in the turret and align the groove in the turret and that in the
rotating section.

12) Key in # (1) ( 1) using the data entry keys.

(NOTE: For the Z-axis, key in # (1) ( ) ( 1).)
Check if "ORIGIN SET" displayed to the right of STATE changes to "ORIG-
RTN".

13) Feed the X-axis (or the Z-axis) in the negative direction using the manual pulse
generator. (Feed the X-axis in the positive direction for the X-axis reversed JIS
specifications.)
NOTE: The axis automatically stops at the next grid. If the axis fails to stop
at the next grid after fed over 30 mm, the procedure may not have been
followed correctly. Check the procedure described above again and
follow the procedure correctly.

14) Check if "ORIGIN SET" displayed to the right of STATE changes to "OK".

15) Switch on the power again and execute the zero return once to check if the zero
point is correct.

- Yes → END
- No → Adjust the zero point again.

2) After pressing the [F2] (SERVO) soft-key, press the page selection key [ ▼ ]
(advance) once, and record the value of CYC CNT (p) on the SERVO MONITOR
(2) screen.

3) Change the settings of the parameters as follows.
