5.Admission staff
After announcement of any major fire accident in night, Fire Emergency team will reach hospital
within 10-15minutes.
Roles and Responsibilities of Fire Emergency Team
a) Night Shift
1.Fire warden- Duty Maintenance staff

-Arrives at location, will categorise as minor or major fire and takes a decision whether
Evacuation is required or not.
-In case of Minor fire, extinguishes fire with Fire Extinguisher
-Maintenance Team will come and remove the combustion materials in the surrounding place.
-Lift supply should be switched OFF.
-if it is necessary power supply will be switched OFF otherwise it is ON.
-In case of Major fire, alerts Fire safety team, Informs Unit Head-GM and Medical Director,
-informs Nearby Fire Station(phone number-044 26428544) after obtaining permission from
SeniorManagement
-Maintenance team will check the electrical wiring , Equipment and interior condition.
-Coordinates with Duty Nursing Supervisor and executes instructions
2.Nursing Supervisor
➢ Coordinates with fire safety warden

➢ In case of evacuation, will triage patient with nursing staff whether patient is stable or
unstable and evacuates as per evacuation plan
➢ Informs Security and House Keeping supervisor
➢ Identifies floor wise fire safety champions
➢ After evacuation ,will do ward wise patient count with Incharges
3.Facility
➢ Coordinates with Nurses in clearing route

➢ Helps in evacuating patients as per evacuation plan
4.Security

➢ Staff head count to be done by security and department incharges
5.Paramedics
➢ Coordinates in shifting patients along with staff nurses and housekeeping
6.Admission staff
➢ Paging Code FIRE across institution

➢ coordinates with Nursing team for any transfer of patients to nearby hospitals
➢ Alerting members of fire safety team
b)Day Shift
1.Fire Safety Officer
➢ Arrives immediately to the fire place

➢ Extinguishes minor fire with Fire extinguisher
➢ Arrives at location, will categorise as minor or major fire and takes a decision whether
Evacuation is required or not.
➢ In case of Major fire, alerts Fire safety team, Informs Unit Head-GM and Medical Director,
informs Nearby Fire Station(phone number-phone number-044 26428544)) after obtaining
permission from Senior Management
2.Patient Safety officer
➢ In absence of fire safety officer takes his roles and responsibility

➢ Coordinates with Fire safety officer for execution of Fire safety plan
3.Deputy Medical Superintendent
➢ Informs Top Management on the fire evacuation plan

➢ Informs doctors on shifts to execute evacuation of patients
4.Deputy Head-Quality
➢ Coordinating with Security at Assembly point and crowd management.
5.Head –Nursing operations

➢ Alerting Nursing supervisor and Nursing Incharges

➢ Coordinates with fire safety officer
➢ In case of evacuation, will triage patient with nursing staff whether patient is stable or
unstable and evacuates as per evacuation plan
➢ Identifies floor wise fire safety champions
➢ After evacuation ,Nursing Supervisor will do ward wise patient count with Incharges
➢
6.Head Maintenance
➢ Maintenance Team will come and remove the combustion materials in the surrounding place.
➢ Lift supply should be switched OFF.
➢ if it is necessary power supply will be switched OFF otherwise it is ON.
➢ Maintenance Team will come and check what type of fire, they will stop the fire in the internal
team or not.
➢ Maintenance team will check the electrical wiring , Equipment and interior condition.
➢ Coordinates with Duty Nursing Supervisor and executes instructions
7.Head Facility
➢ Coordinates with Nurses in clearing route

➢ Helps in evacuating patients as per evacuation plan
➢ Crowd control

➢ Coordinates in shifting patients along with staff nurses and housekeeping
