GAS ENGINE TECHNOLOGY –

FOR EFFICIENT ENERGY

as biogas. The high ef f iciencies of our gas CHP
units ar e achie v ed by combining tw o pr o v en
t echnologies: the SCHNELL engine t echnology
and the inno v ativ e BlueRail ignition pr ocess
fr om agr ogen.

Gas engine t echnology

Using an electr onic ignition sy s t em fr om gas
engines, the gas air mixtur e is ignit ed by a
spar k plug. Specially modif ied f or use with lean
gases such as biogas, gas engines can also
ensur e the ef f icient combus tion of gases that
ar e dif f icult t o ignit e and can also achie v e
high ef f iciencies.

Gas engine t echnology with BlueRail

ignition pr ocess
The ef f icient agr ogen BlueRail pr ocess uses a
separ at e gas supply in the engine. A small por -
tion of the biogas is ignit ed in a specially
de v eloped pr echamber of the combus tion
chamber. The r esulting f lame je t ignit es the
gas air mixtur e pr esent in the combus tion
chamber. The modif ied pis t on shape and the
electr onic contr ol unit ensur e the highly
ef f icient and lo w emission combus tion of the
pr e-ignit ed gas. This r esults in the par ticular ly
high ef f iciencies of gas CHP units.
