Good morning one & all;


Do you know how one could become a President?
We all know the simple legisletive direct election but…do we know in which fashion
President’s election does take place?
Let us know how could someone be on such powerful position.

“The President”
The First citizen of india.
The Commander and chief of indian arm forces.
Sole protector of a constitution and law.

Do you know who was the first President of india?


Dr.rajendra prasad was become first President of india in 1952.

Do you know who was the first women President?


Pratibha patil was the first women President of india in 2007.

Do you know who is present President of India?


At present dr.droupadi murmu took the oath of office as the 15 th President of india on july 25th
and created history by being the first person from the tribal community and the second
women to occupy the country’s highest constitutional post.

What are the criterion or eligibilty to become a President?


Let us know the eligibility to be a President…
 Any person who is 35 year old and citizen of india.who does not have his office or profit
in government or public sector can be a president of india. He/she must qualify
condition to be elected as a member of the “lok sabha”.he/she Shall not be a member of
either house of people or house of legislature of any state.

Let us know actual process of election of President…

 It is a indirect process. Similar to rajya sabha Presidential election follow the system of
single transferable vote instead of EVM the members of electrol college provided with a
ballet paper.
 Article 54 to 58 of indian constitution governs the process of Presidential election.
Unlike the prime minister, the President of india is elected indirectly that means no
direct voting but instead the President is elected by the electrol college.
 Electrol college is set of electors that consist of elected members of both houses of the
parliament and legislative assemblies of all states. This is called “electoral college” for
the office of the President.
 The Nominated members of rajya sabha and state assemblys are not eligible to vote And
off course! Normal people also not take part.

First the Notification of the election of the President is declare. Then Filling of nomination
papers, Scrutiny of nomination papers, voting, Counting of votes and at last result is declare.

President has the legislative powers, pardoing powers, miliatry powers, emergency power,
judicial powers, diplomatic powers, executive powers, financial powers etc…

Let us know the process of removing the President from the charges…
 The process of removing the President from the charges is called impeachment process.
The process may start in either of the two houses.
 The charges levelled against the president have to be signed by at least 1\4 of the total
members of the house.
 Notice is sent to the president, 14 days later , it is taken up for consideration.
 A resolution to impeach the president has to be passed by the 2\3 rd majority of the total
members.Then , it is sent to another house.
 The other house investigates the charges.
 During the process, the president has the right to defend himself/herself through an
authorised counsel.
 If the second house also approves the charges made by 2/3rd majority again, the
president stands impeached & is deemed to have leave his/her office from the date
such resolution passed.
 No other penalty can be given to the president for the violation of the constitution.
