Summer Vacation Assignments

Summer vacation is synonymous with fun, frolic, getting up late in the

morning, playing for longer hours with friends, going for picnics, exploring
new places and having fun. But dear children we have planned some
assignments and creative work for you so that you can make the optimum
use of your time and energy. Have an enjoyable Summer Break!
Time to strengthen our skills :
Subject Work assigned
Prepare the following topics for Speaking Skills:-
1.When there’s a will, there is a way
2.Actions speak louder than words
English I
3.Knowledge is Power
4.Ignorance is Bliss
5.Don’t judge a book by its cover
Do English-2 project work. Choose any two or three topics of your choice
from the suggested assignments by council.
*Prepare two or three assignments of
approximately 1500 words in total.
*If you prepare two assignments, then it should be 750 words each.
*Chapters/poem’s for projects should be chosen from std x syllabus .
SUGGESTED ASSIGNMENTS
Assignments should be based on the prescribed textbooks on the following
English II lines:
1.The character/thematic analysis;
2.Socio-economic, cultural, historical relevance / background;
3.Summary / paraphrase.
4.Appreciation of literary qualities.
5.Identifying with a character. Putting oneself
in place of a character in given circumstances and explaining one’s actions.
6. Imagine alternative outcomes or endings in
a literary piece and the effect on all concerned.

1.Dry Heating test of various salts- CuCO3, ZnCO3, Pb(NO3)2,
NH4Cl, CuSO4.5H20, CoCl2.6H2O, NH4Cl, (NH4)2 Cr2O7.
Chemistry 2.Detection of the metallic cations in unknown salt sample
3.Cu2+, Fe2+, Fe3+ , Zn2+, Pb2+, Ca2+, Al3+, NH4+ by using
reagents such as NaOH, KOH, NH4OH
2. Revise chapter 1,2 and 3 and write down the key words of these
chapters with proper meaning in your fair notebook.
Do experiments suggested by the council in Practical file with appropriate
Biology diagram of following topics.(Absorption by roots & Photosynthesis)
Revise the syllabus covered yet for test.
Geography: Do any one
1.Local Geography (a) Land use pattern in different regions of India– a
comparative analysis. (b) The survey of a local market on the types of
shops and services offered.
2. Environment: Wildlife conservation efforts in India.
3. Current Geographical Issues: Development of tourism in India.
4. Transport in India: Development of Road, Rail, Water and Air routes.
HCG II 5. List different type of industries in the States and collect information
about the types of raw materials used, modes of their procurement and
disposal of wastes generated. Classify these industries as polluting or
environment friendly and suggest possible ways of reducing pollution
caused by these units.
6. Need for industrialization in India, the latest trends and its impact on
economy of India.
7. Visit a water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant or garbage
dumping or vermi composting sites in the locality and study their working.

Prepare Project and Presentation video on any one topic that is given
below.
1. Compare the Parliamentary and Presidential forms of Government with
reference to India and the U.S.A.
2. Present a life sketch and contributions of any one of the following
Presidents of India – Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and Dr. A.P.J.
Abdul Kalam (or any other).
3. Present a book review of any one of the following works: Dadabai Naoroji’s
‘Poverty and un-British rule in India’, Gandhi’s ‘The Story of my Experiments
with Truth’, Nehru’s ‘Discovery of India’, Bhagat Singh’s ‘Why I am an Atheist’,
Vijayalakshmi Pandit’s ‘The Scope of Happiness: A Personal Memoir’, Abdul
Kalam’s ‘Wings of Fire’.

4. Discuss the relevance of any one of the following films to understand the
history of 20th Century Europe: The Book Thief, Schindler’s List, Escape to
Victory, The Boy in Striped Pyjamas, Life is Beautiful, The Sound of Music,
Gandhi (Richard Attenborough), Sardar (Ketan Mehta), Netaji Subhas Chandra
Bose - The Forgotten Hero (Shyam Benegal).
5. Highlight the work and achievements of any one Nobel Laureate - Malala
Yousafzai or Kailash Satyarthi.
6. Make a PowerPoint presentation on India’s Independence and Partition.
7. Make a presentation on the influence of Gandhian principles on Martin
Luther King / Nelson Mandela.
8. Prepare a report on the contributions of any one of the following agencies
of the United Nations – UNESCO / WHO / UNICEF / ILO / UNDP / FAO.

This is your chance to look after your parents, grandparents, elders and even your
younger brothers and sisters. You can surely be of some help around the house.

Summer break will begin from 01st June to 2 nd July 2023. School
shall reopen on 3rd July 2023.
Submit your Project/Practical files to your subject teacher on
reopening of school.
