“Questions and negative sentences at the past simple”

Observe the sentences.

What is her name? What was her name?

How old is she? How old was she?

Where does she live? Where did she live?

What do you do? What did you do?

Do you like English lessons? Did you like English lessons?

Pour construire des questions au past simple; on garde la même structure qu’au present simple :

Les DO et DOES deviennent DID.

Les AM et IS deviennent WAS.

Les ARE deviennent WERE.

Practice: Put the questions at the past simple:

How old are you? How old were you?

What does he like? What did he like?

When do you have French? When did you have French?

Why are you so nasty? Why were you so nasty?

Do you live in France? Did you live in France?

Observe the sentences.

I don’t like football. I did not /didn’t like football.

She doesn’t live in Croatia. She didn’t live in Croatia.

They don’t eat pizza. They didn’t eat pizza.

You are not happy. You were not / weren’t happy.

I am not in class. I was not / wasn’t in class.


Practice: Après avoir observé la transformation de la forme négative, transformez les phrases
suivantes.

I am not angry. I wasn’t angry.

She doesn’t like TV. She didn’t like TV

They don’t do judo. They didn’t do judo.

We aren’t keen on football. We were not / weren’t keen on football.

You don’t speak Japanese. You didn’t speak Japanese
