MAPEH-9 NOTES

Antigone- Morality tale against pride, the story of the daughter of Oedipus.

Hamlet- a play about a prince who is distressed by the sudden death of his father

Melodrama- It uses stock characters such as the damsel in Distress and the villain.

Elizabeth Era- During the reign of this queen, England prospered and experienced

peace, and art also flourished.

Orchestra- it is the space where the chorus would sing and dance.

Theatron - where the audience or spectators are seated.

Domestic Violence - violent or aggressive behavior done in homes by people whom

you are related.

Sexual Abuse- It is also called molestation.

Intentional Injuries- caused by human actions done to purposely hurt someone.

Suicide- It is the act of killing yourself.

Stalking- It is the repeated behavior of someone to follow a victim.

Dodge- It means “to avoid”.

James H. Carlisle- who adopted the African game of throwing stones by Using large

stones.

G. Wallstrom- He introduced handball in Sweden.

Scandinavia & Germany- the first two countries where handball was first played.

Africa- A place where Dodgeball was first seen.

Opera Seria - a serious opera.


Erlking - An art song composed by Franz Schubert, which based on the poem by

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Lied- a German art song.

Bel Canto - means “Beautiful singing”.

Art Song- A poem expressed in music.

Aria- a solo song in which a lead role will sing.

Opera- A play set to music.

Strophic Form- plays the same melody in all stanzas.

Overture- an instrumental introduction to an opera.

Through composed music- Each stanza of the poem is sung to a new music.
