INTRODUCTION

• Lantana camara (common lantana) is a

species of flowering plant.
• The stems and branches are generally thorny
due to presence of trichomes.
• The leaves are organized in opposite pairs.
Flowers are present in cluster form.
• Vernacular Names : lantana, Tantani,
Ghaneri
 LANTANA CAMARA

• It is also known as ach man, angel lipes, big sage etc.

• Lantana camara is native to Mexico.
• Lantana camara is member of "Verbenaceae" family.
• In India, it was initially introduced in 1809 from SRI LANKA.
• Lantana camara is a world wide weed.
• Distributed : 60 countries
• Africa, Australia, China, Cambodia, India, USA & Sri lanka etc.

▪ Lantana was originally

introduced to most countries as
a garden ornamental, and it is
still popularly grown.
 Medicinal uses
• The different parts of LANTANA CAMARA can use because many chemicals are
present in the treatment of many disease.

High blood pressure
Malaria
Snake-bite
 Industrial use

• Graden ornamental
• Perfume ingredient
• Essential oil from the leaves
• Treatment of itches of skin
• Useful as antiseptic

 Toxic principle

• Some major lantadenes are lantadene A,B,C,D which have a common core
structure of 22-hydroxy-oleanoic acid.

• Most common & toxic taxa of Lantana Camara is Lantadene A.

• Toxic dose nearly 5g/kg weight (dry leaf powder).

 Materials and Methods

• The leaves were detached and washed with distilled water to remove the dust
particles.
• Extract of l.camara leaves was prepared as under 200g
• Crushed in the mixture grinder
• After grinding the material of leaf were soaked in 1000 ml of distilled water
for 24 hour.
• Filtered with muslin cloth
• Then extract was diluted.

Antimicrobial Fungicidal Insecticial

 Conclusions

• The present study was to prepare and evaluate herbal ointment.

• Herbal extract of Lantana camara was prepared by hydrodistiltion method.
• This method obtain higher yield of extract
• The evaluation parameters were studied which shows confirmatory results.
• The plant can prevent soil compaction and erosion and is a source of organic
matter
 .
