CONSERVATION WEEK - 2017

Every year the Conservation Association sets aside one week during which it embarks upon a
campaign to educate people and bring about an awareness of conservation issues that affect
people on a local, regional and international level.

This year the week of Sunday 8 to Friday 13 October was chosen for that purpose and a
number of activities have been planned. The theme for this year is ‘Preserving the
Environment For Our Children’.

The Annual Secondary Schools’ Essay Competition will be of interest to you and your
students. This competition will be open to students in the fourth and fifth forms of all
secondary schools on the island. It will be held on a district level then the top two entries
from each district will compete on a national level. Some of the rules for the competition are:

1. There is no age limit

2. Students with family members who are employed by or are members of the Association are
ineligible

3. Students can write on any topic of their choice relevant to conservation

4. Essays must not be more than 700 words and must be typewritten or word processed

5. An entry form, completely filled and signed, must be submitted with each essay.
