I was given the task of giving a speech in two different settings.

One being in front of my class and the

next recording to be done at home alone. The purpose of this analysis is to highlight the differences and
similarities of giving a speech in front of a crowd and recording a speech in the comfort of my home.

Both processes had their own advantages and disadvantages. Before giving a speech in front of my class, I
was a bit anxious. It was a bit nerve-racking to deliver a speech in front of many people. The anticipation
before relaying my speech was what made the anxiety commence. Thankfully we were given the option
by our teacher to choose which position we would like to present. I was able to choose a spot that I was
comfortable with and which allowed me to, in some ways get the experience over with.

I initially thought that I would prefer doing the recording at home over giving the speech in class.
However, after numerous attempts at the perfect recording I found it rather frustrating. I ended up
recording myself at least fifteen different times. I continually found myself slipping up over my speech. It
was also quite distracting as there were noises from outside such as cars passing or dogs barking which
would often interrupt me. I found that sitting down and recording myself was making me stumble even
more. I then decided to stand and pretend as if I was actually delivering a speech properly.

I preferred doing the speech in class as I found that having as many chances to say it allowed for more
opportunities to make mistakes. Being given only one chance makes your mind believe that you have to
do your best as you are not going to be able to try again. Being at home subconsciously relaxed my mind
and allowed to me to slip up the amount of times I did.

I believe that this comparison has enabled me to be more prepared in the future when I have to give a
speech.
