Narrator: “Guillermo del Toro was born on October 9, 1964, in Guadalajara, Mexico.
He is a renowned filmmaker known for his work in the fantasy and horror genres. His
parents, Guadalupe Gómez and Federico del Toro Torres, supported his early forays
into story creation and homemade films.”
Creative from a young age, del Toro was marked by an extraordinary experience: a
lucid dream where he saw a faun emerge from behind his clock and monsters
roaming under his green carpet. Terrified but needing to use the bathroom, young del
Toro made a deal with the creatures: if they let him go to the bathroom, he would be
their friend for life. They kept their end of the bargain, and Guillermo dedicated his
entire career to presenting his new friends in a kinder light through his films."
Narrator: "As a child, del Toro used to read horror novels and comic books, which
greatly influenced his creative vision. He used to spend hours drawing and creating
his own monster designs. These habits in his formative years laid the foundation for
his distinctive artistic style."

Narrator: "If I were Guillermo del Toro, I would feel incredibly proud of my
contributions to the film industry. If 'Pan's Labyrinth' had not been made, many fans
of fantasy cinema would have missed out on its unique storytellin.”
