Abstract

On-the-job training (OJT) is a crucial component of

criminology training, preparing students to excel in various sectors,
ensuring they are equipped with practical skills and knowledge for
their future careers. The study investigates the impact of on-the-
job training (OJT) on the academic performance of fourth year
Criminology students at Golden West Colleges during the 2023-
2024 school year. The researchers selected 90 students from six
sets and distributed questionnaires to each set. The data was
analysed using statistical treatment tools such as percentage,
weighted mean, and Likert Scale. The study highlights the
importance of on-the-job training in enhancing students' academic
performance and aims to inform stakeholders such as instructors,
school administrators, parents, and students. The results were
presented in a quantitative research method, focusing on the
profile of the respondents. The study reveals that on-the-job
training significantly impacts interns' academic performance, with
most respondents aged 21-22 and males. The study suggests that
effective time management techniques, open communication
between academic advisors and supervisors, and networking
opportunities can help interns maintain their academic
performance. The findings suggest that balancing internship
obligations and academic work can enhance interns' academic
performance.
