entertained. Brits are increasingly glued to their smartphones in a trend that shows no signs
of abating. The average person uses some form of internet-connected device 34 times a day
and amasses a total of 2 hours and 12 minutes wedded to them.
2. A new smartphone app aims to transform live concerts by eliminating ticket booking fees,
allowing cashless payments at shows, and providing digital maps to find your way. The
Smart Ticket app will provide real-time information, HD videos, tracks downloads, news and
images the moment the gig ends, so that fans can concentrate on watching the performance.
3. Liviu Radita, a Romanian burglar, has been jailed for seven years at Maidstone Court after
the Find My iPhone app was used by police in an investigation to help track him down after
he had stolen an iPad that contained the program. The Apple device was tracked down to a
property in Essex, where a Nissan Primera outside was linked to Mr.Radita.
4. We’ve all been there. Walking to the pub, spending ages waiting to get served before
struggling to carry your round back to your friends. But the end of those days could be in
sight. The Lion Tavern in Leeds has decided to embrace technology to allow customers to
place their order via their mobile phone. Patrons can even order their drinks on the way,
thanks to the Orderella smartphone app. After the order is placed the bartender brings your
drinks over to your table, while all drinks are charged to an account.
5. A petrol station employee in Florida cheated death after bullet hit his smartphone instead of
his stomach. The attendant was approached by the assailant, who showed him a revolver
and told him to unlock a safe. When he couldn’t open the secure storage unit, the robber
fired. Police confirmed the worker had suffered minor injuries but his phone wasn’t in great
condition with the screen cracked by the bullet.
6. Are you an overworked commuter who needs the aroma of coffee to wake you up in the
mornings? A new smartphone accessory could help give you that early morning pick-up by
releasing coffee and bacon aromas when your alarm goes off. Scentee, a plug-in accessory,
releases a different scent into the air every time a notification appears on your phone.
