ACTION RESEARCH METHODS

This part defines the methods and processes that this qualitative

research applied. It describes the participants and other sources of data and

information, as well as data gathering methods observed.

Participants and /or Other Sources of Data and Information

The participants of this study will be the eighteen (18) Grade Three-Earth

Learners of Tibongbong Elementary School, for School Year 2022-2023.

The participants are from a heterogeneous class consisting ten (10) males and

eight (8) females.

Data Gathering Method

Data collection is crucial in this study. As a researcher, I will follow proper

procedures for an orderly conduct of an action research.

Pre-Implementation Phase: First, I will inform our school head and will

ask permission to conduct the study. I will educate him with the processes which

will be taken in this journey. Then, I will seek approval from the District and Division

Research Committee to finally proceed in the conduct of this action research.

Implementation Phase:

Post-Implementation Phase: After implementation

Data Analysis Plan

In this study, the researcher will be collecting two types of data, the quantitative data, that is from the
scores of the participants in the pre and posttest, and qualitative, that is from the result of observation
and conduct of informal interview. The scores of both the pretest and the posttest will be taken and
these data will be coded, tallied, and will be statistically treated using the mean and standard deviation
and interpreted using the DepEd Order No. 8 s. 2015 or the Policy Guidelines on Classroom
Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education Program. To wit: Score Descriptor Descriptive
Interpretation for the Performance of Students 12.61- 15.0 Outstanding This means that the
performance level of the learner exceeds the core requirements in term of knowledge and
understandings and can transfer them automatically and flexibly. 11.71- 12.60 Very Satisfactory This
means that the performance level of the learner at this level has develop the fundamental knowledge
and core understandings. 10.21 – 11.7 Satisfactory This means that the performance level of the
learner at this level has developed fundamental knowledge and core understandings and with little
guidance from the teacher and or with some assistance from peers. 9.0-10.2 Fairly Satisfactory This
means that the performance level of the learner at this level possesses the minimum knowledge, skills
and core understandings but needs help throughout the performances. 0-8.99 Did not meet the
expectation This means that the performance level of the learner at this level struggles with his or her
understanding; prerequisite and fundamental knowledge have not been acquired or developed
adequately to aid understanding. More concepts are not learned. The mean and the standard
deviation will be used to determine the level of performance of students and whether or not a
difference was made in the implementation of the intervention. In analyzing the qualitative data, we will
conduct thematic analysis following the method of Creswell (2013) of data reduction, data display, and
conclusion drawing and verification. In data reduction, we will transcribe the interview responses, then
read and re-read it to determine significant statements. During data display, we will group significant
statements into codes and continuously screen the data to determine the emerging themes. Finally, in
conclusion drawing and verification, we will explain throughout the themes that emerged in the
process.

III. PLANS FOR DISSEMINATION AND UTILIZATION

The results of this action research will be disseminated through existing

mechanisms of the Department of Education (DepEd) such as School Learning

Action Cell Session, In-Service Trainings, Enhanced School Improvement Plan

(eSIP) of the school, and even in the division, regional, national and international

research colloquium. The study will also be disseminated through an official research

journal at the Regional or Division Level.
