1) A I - section has following dimensions

Web - 350mm × 25mm
i) Determine the C.G of the section
ii)Findout moment of inertia about an axis passing through the C.G of
the section and parallel to XX axis.

2) A round bar 50mm diameter is subjected to an axial pull of 1000kN and


reduction in diameter was found to be .00775mm. Find Poisson’s ratio and
Young’s Modulus for the material of the bar.Take value of shear modulus as
55GPa.
3) Calculate maximum shear stress of a Circular section of 45mm diameter. The
cantilever beam subjected to udl of 5kn/m over entire span of 10m.

4) A simply supported beam is of rectangular section of 500mm depth and 5m


length. Find the uniformly distributed load on unit length of this beam. Take
bending stress as 100N/mm2 and moment of inertia 12×106 mm4.

5) Draw SFD and BMD of the given beam. Also write the calculations.
1) A steel wire of 5mm diameter is bent into a circular shape of 5m radius.
Determine the maximum stress induced in the wire. Take E = 200GPa.

2) A simply supported beam is of rectangular section of 300mm depth and 4m


length. Find the uniformly distributed load on unit length of this beam. Take
bending stress as 120N/mm2 and moment of inertia 8×106 mm4.

3) A simply supported beam of span 10m carrying point loads of 2t,6t and 7t from
1m, 3m and 7m from left end support respectively.Draw shear force and
bending moment diagram.

4) A timber beam of rectangular section of length 10 m is simply supported. The


beam carries a U.D.L. of 7 kN/m run over the entire length and a point load of
15 kN at 3 metre from the left support. If the depth is two times the width and
the stress in the timber is not to exceed 8 N/mm2, find the suitable dimensions
of the section.

5) A cantilever 1.5 m long is loaded with a uniformly distributed load of 2 kN/m run
over a length of 1.25 m from the free end. It also carries a point load of 3 kN at
a distance of 0.25 m from the free end. Draw the shear force and bending
moment diagrams of the cantilever.

6) Draw SFD and BMD of the given beam. Also write it’s calculations.
