Living Right: A Devotional for Children

Living a righteous life is a fundamental aspect of Christian beliefs and teachings. As

children navigate the complexities of the world, it is crucial to instill in them the importance

of living right, guided by the principles of their faith. This devotional aims to provide a

framework for children to understand and apply the concept of "living right" in their daily

lives.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of living righteously, as exemplified in the

words of the Psalmist: "The righteous person is a guide to their neighbor, but the way of the

wicked leads them astray" (Proverbs 12:26, New International Version). This verse highlights

the contrast between the righteous and the wicked, encouraging children to choose the path of

righteousness.

One of the key elements of living right is cultivating a strong moral compass.

Children should be taught to distinguish between right and wrong, and to make decisions that

align with the teachings of their faith. As the Apostle Paul wrote, "Do not be conformed to

this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern

what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:2, English

Standard Version). By renewing their minds and aligning their thoughts with God's will,

children can develop the wisdom to navigate the challenges they face.

Another crucial aspect of living right is the practice of kindness and compassion.

Jesus taught his followers to "love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:39, NIV),

emphasizing the importance of caring for others and treating them with respect and dignity.

Children should be encouraged to be kind to their peers, to help those in need, and to show

empathy and understanding towards others.

Additionally, living right involves cultivating a personal relationship with God. As the

Psalmist says, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart"

(Psalm 37:4, ESV). By seeking God's guidance, spending time in prayer, and studying the

Scriptures, children can develop a deeper understanding of God's will for their lives and find

the strength to live according to His teachings.

In conclusion, living right is a fundamental aspect of Christian faith and a crucial

lesson for children to learn. By instilling the values of moral discernment, kindness, and a

personal relationship with God, we can empower children to navigate the challenges of the

world and grow into righteous individuals who honor God and positively impact their

communities.
