To analyze and understand the meaning, importance and need of revival of manmade canal.

To revive the ecological integrity in Grand canal through landscape modifications,giving importance
to cultural and ecological value of the site.

Objectives :

To understand the existing land use,purpose and function of canal in the past.

To study the historical and cultural significant space around the canal.

To study the land use pattern changed over the period of time.

To analyze the deteriorated conditions of canal and peoples negotiation with water canal.

To study and evaluate the factors that contribute to the water canal.

Need for study:

Over time,the water canal became undesirable and detested place,faced with many such problems
of pollution,drainage,human encroachment which disturbs the ecology and neibourhood.

Rejuvenation of the canal becomes important because of the city’s rich history associated with it.
