Title of Project Based Perform light vehicle pre-starting and warm-up


Assessment

General Instruction:

Given the necessary tools, materials and equipment, you are required to
Perform light vehicle pre-starting and warm-up following standard procedures
with consideration of OHS requirements and 5S practices.

Specific Instruction:

Within thirty (30) minutes, you should be able to:


1. Wear Appropriate PPE.
2. Walk around the vehicle and visually inspect for any damage, leaks, or flat
tires. Check the condition of lights and tires.
3. Enter the vehicle and adjust the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel for comfort
and visibility.
4. Ensure all passengers fasten their seatbelts.
5. Confirm that the transmission is in Park (for automatic transmission) or
Neutral (for manual transmission).
6. Engage the parking brake to prevent the vehicle from moving.
7. Insert the key into the ignition cylinder or press the start button to initiate the
engine.
8. Allow the engine to idle for a brief period, typically 30 seconds to a minute, to
circulate oil throughout the engine. This lubricates internal components and
ensures proper lubrication upon startup.
9. While the engine is idling, monitor the dashboard for any warning lights or
unusual sounds. Check instrument cluster indicators such as oil pressure,
coolant temperature, and battery voltage.
10.the engine has idled for a sufficient period and reached operating temperature,
gently rev the engine to ensure smooth acceleration and responsiveness. This
helps warm up the engine and prepares it for driving.
11.Before setting off, double-check all gauges and controls to ensure they are
functioning properly. Verify that there are no abnormal sounds or warning
lights on the dashboard.

12.Release the parking brake and shift the transmission into Drive (for automatic
transmission) or gear (for manual transmission). Begin your journey
cautiously, allowing the vehicle to fully warm up as you drive.

14. Supplies/Materials: flashlight, tire pressure and tread depth


gauges, jack and jack stands, wheel chocks, screwdrivers, wrenches, a
multimeter, and an OBD-II scanner. Essential fluids include engine oil,
transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and
windshield washer fluid. Cleaning supplies such as rags, degreaser, and
glass cleaner are necessary, along with safety gear like gloves and safety
glasses. Additionally, have an inspection checklist, pen and notepad,
and the vehicle owner's manual for reference. Other useful items
include a funnel, drip pan, tire inflator, plastic pry tools, zip ties,
lubricant spray, and a torque wrench. These materials ensure a
comprehensive and efficient vehicle inspection.

15.Equipment’s/Tools: flashlight, tire pressure and tread depth gauges, a jack


and jack stands, wheel chocks, screwdrivers, wrenches, a multimeter, and an
OBD-II scanner. Additional useful items include a funnel, drip pan, tire
inflator, plastic pry tools, zip ties, lubricant spray, and a torque wrench. Safety
gear such as gloves and safety glasses are also essential for personal
protection during the inspection process
