Define_

1) Stock_
Materials in the environment which have the potential to satisfy human needs but
human beings do not have the appropriate technology to access these are included
among stock.

3) Bad Land_
The land becomes unfit for cultivation and is known as Bad Land.

4) Soil erosion_
The denudation of soil cover and subsequent washing down is called as soil
erosion.

5) Gullies_
The running water cuts through the clavy soil and mix deep channels called gullies.

6) Sheet erosion_
The top soil is washed away due to force of raindrops. This is known as sheet
erosion.

7) Contour ploughing_
Ploughing along the contour lines is done to decelerate the flow of water down the
slopes. This is called contour ploughing.

8) Shelter belts_
Planting lines of trees to create rows, of such trees are called shelter belts.

9) Strip Cropping_
Large fields are divided into strips. Strips of grass are left to grow between the crops.
This breaks up the force of the wind and this method is known as strip cropping.

10) Reserves_
Reserves are the subset of the stock which can be put into use with the help of
existing technical 'know how' but it's use has not been started.
11) Potential resources_
Resources which are found in the region but have not been utilised are called
potential resources.

12) Developed resources_


Resources which are surveyed and their quality and quantity have been determined
for utilisation are called developed resources.
