The term "internet" typically refers to the global network of interconnected

computer networks that use the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to communicate.
However, there are various types of internet services and technologies that
facilitate access to the internet. Here are some common types:

1. **Dial-up Internet**: Dial-up internet uses a traditional telephone line to

connect to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) via a modem. It's one of the earliest
forms of internet access but has largely been replaced by faster broadband
technologies.

2. **Broadband Internet**: Broadband internet refers to high-speed internet

connections that provide faster data transmission rates than dial-up connections.
Broadband technologies include Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Cable Internet,
Fiber-optic Internet, and Satellite Internet.

3. **DSL (Digital Subscriber Line)**: DSL uses existing telephone lines to provide
high-speed internet access. It's widely available in urban and suburban areas.

4. **Cable Internet**: Cable internet uses the same coaxial cable infrastructure as
cable television to deliver high-speed internet access. It's popular in areas
served by cable TV providers.

5. **Fiber-optic Internet**: Fiber-optic internet uses optical fibers to transmit

data using light signals. It offers very high-speed internet access and is
typically deployed in densely populated urban areas.

6. **Satellite Internet**: Satellite internet uses satellites in Earth's orbit to

provide internet access to remote or rural areas where terrestrial broadband
infrastructure is not available.

7. **Wireless Internet**: Wireless internet technologies enable internet access

without physical cables. They include Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and mobile broadband
technologies like 3G, 4G, and 5G.

8. **Mobile Internet**: Mobile internet allows users to access the internet using
mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and mobile hotspots. It relies on
cellular networks and is widely used for on-the-go connectivity.

9. **Fixed Wireless Internet**: Fixed wireless internet uses radio signals to

provide high-speed internet access to fixed locations, typically in areas where
traditional wired broadband services are not feasible.

10. **Tethering**: Tethering allows a device, such as a smartphone, to share its

internet connection with other devices, such as laptops or tablets, using Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, or a USB cable.

These are some of the common types of internet access technologies and services
that enable users to connect to the global network known as the internet.
