meaning "Mother city". Metro cities are
the economic powerhouses that provide

ideas. They provide employment and
promising career opportunities, fulfil
aspirations, and offer a quality life. By 2030,
75% of India's GDP will generate from cities.
Metros have a modern social infrastructure,
which offers easy access to amenities like
education, health, arts, sports, etc. Metro
cities are cosmopolitan, having cultural
diversity, vibrant communities & resultant
cultural integration.

However, metros have their fair share of socio-
economic issues like slums, crime, congestion,
high cost of living, fast food culture causing
lifestyle diseases and individualistic way of
living resulting in a stressful life. There are also
some environmental concerns like pollution,
noise, poor waste management etc. Further,
poor urban governance results in poor access
to housing, sanitation and services, lack of
safety nets and livelihood. Additionally, the
Covid-19 pandemic has raised several
questions about the quality of life in dense
urban cities.

I am writing to your esteemed self to bring to
your notice the nuisance caused by stray dogs in
our colony. In the recent past, the number of
stray dogs in our colony has risen alarmingly,
which has caused numerous problems.

These dogs pose severe threats to the safety of

residents, especially children playing in the
streets and parks. Stray dogs are causing traffic
accidents as they suddenly run into the road. Dog
faeces are causing sanitation issues, and their
barking and howling at night disturb the locals'
lives.
