Class hour analysis
This class hour is the second class hour of Unit 1 of the sixth
grade volume 2 of the People's Education Edition. This lesson is
mainly to learn how to express and ask about the height of animals
or objects How tall is it? and to answer Maybe 4 meters. and to
consolidate the sentence pattern How tall are you? I'm … I' m…
than… . And guide students to understand the knowledge of
dinosaurs, cultivate students' interest in learning English. The
study of the sentence pattern How tall are you? I'm … I'm … than… in the
first lesson has laid the foundation for this lesson. Students are
more proficient in the question and answer pattern of height. The
focus of this lesson is to be able to use the understanding of How
tall are you? I'm …How tall is it? It's …It's / I'm … than … and text dialogue
in context.
This class includes Let's try and Let's talk . Let's try is listening
training and presents material about dinosaurs. Through listening
practice, students gain information about the situation and prepare
to enter the correct dialogue below. Let's talk presents the scene of
Zhang Peng and Mike discussing dinosaurs in the museum. In the
dinosaur hall, Zhang Peng found a tallest dinosaur, which
caused Mike to ask about its height. Then they compare their
heights with dinosaurs, which reinforces the How tall are you? I'm … I'm
… than… sentence pattern. Dinosaurs are mysterious animals that
students are very interested in. The setting of the dinosaur hall
scene in this class has stimulated the students' desire for
knowledge and inspired the students' enthusiasm to express in
English.
Among the vocabulary in this class, there are many new words and
phrases, such as dinosaur, hall, maybe, both of , more , over there . The
pronunciation and semantics of these words and phrases are
difficult for students. Context, body language, pictures and other
methods help students learn and understand.
There are many topics in this class. I use review first to help
students recall and consolidate. Then use multimedia to elicit new
knowledge and learn new knowledge. In the process of learning new
knowledge, guide students to perceive the dialogue as a whole,
process language locally, and help students better understand and
use language. Finally, consolidate the language in the link
through the game.
