at the threshold of the twenty first century is:


Empowerment of the Filipino with desirable knowledge, skills and
attitudes/

values
that will enable him to think critically and innovatively and humanely in
improving the quality of his life that of his family, community and
country.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
An organizing principle that aims to meet human development goals
without compromising the ability of the future generation.
EXPLANATION:
SO WE NEED EDUCATION TO HELP US LEARN HOW
EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS A
FRAMEWORK FOR LEARNING TO LEAVE SUSTAINABILITY
AND TO PRESERVE OUR PLANET IN TO OUR FUTURE.
According to UNESCO or the united nations education scientific and
cultural organization 16% of adults in a world are illiterate they don’t
know how to read and write It has been proven that education has the
power to transform people's lives and create opportunities for personal
and economic growth.

MAIN FOCUSES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT


Economic Growth – defined as the increase or the improvement of one’s
country economy

EXPLAIN: So they empowering individuals by providing them with


practical skills, and knowledge.
FOR EXAMPLE in non formal education nag conduct sila ng training
which is sa community based literacy program ang kanilang kinonduct is
about beauty care and wellness so they offer a training program for
individuals that interested in pursuing careers in this industry so
nakakatulong din sakanila to kung paano yung pamamaraan ng kalinisan
sa katawan they learn a range of skills including skincare techniques,
makeup application, massage therapy and also the holistic wellness
practices so di kalang basta matututo dito kundi ma eenhance pa yung
skills mo we need to learn new experience and as soon as possible
pwede mo na siyang i market and pwede ka ng mag hanap ng job para
dito.

Social Inclusion – Giving people voices and implement and respect their
right
Environmental Protection – a practice of protecting natural environment
by individual, organizations etc.

Non-formal (NFE) has been defined as any intended, deliberate and a


systematic educational enterprise that is regularly outside the system of
traditional schooling

NFE or NON-FORMAL EDUCATION


· Refers to the education that occurs outside formal school systems
· Examples are; swimming classes for small children, sports clubs
any many more.

MAJOR TYPES OF NON-FORMAL EDUCATION


· BASIC LITERACY PROGRAM – To provide illiterate out-of-
school children, youth and adults.
· ACCREDITATION AND EQUIVALENCY PROGRAM –
provides learners a range of alternative pathways.
· INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’ EDUCATION- aims to develop ALS
intervention that is acceptable to the IP’s in general and specific IP’s
communities
· INFORMAL EDUCATION – focuses on the packaging of special
interest short term courses
· MADRASAH EDUCATION – aims to foster better understanding
between migrant Muslims and their host communities

LEGAL FOUNDATION OF NFE or NON-FORMAL EDUCATION


· 1987 Philippine Constitution – Right of all citizens to quality
education at all levels
· RA 9155 (The Governance Act of Basic Education) – ALS as a
complement of formal educ.
· EO no. 356 – To provide a systematic and flexible approach
· Education For All Plan 2015 – Transforms all NFE and informal
Educations to ALS

· Non-Government Organizations
· Private Groups/Donors

PROGRAMS FOR NFE

“KUMUSTAHAN SA BARANGAY”
· It serves as the central venue for promotion of NFE at a
community level
“USAPAN”
· It aims to support the professional Growth and develop
competence of Mobile teachers by organizing them into small groups or
clusters to learn from one another
