Jamaica is located in the Caribbean Sea, in north America. The island is near
USA. More precisely the state of Florida, in the south of Miami. The capital is
Kingston. The area of Jamaica is near 10.990 square kilometres. There are 2.973
million of inhabitants. The flag is composed of three different colours, black,
yellow and green. The official language is English, which is not like other islands
in the Caribbean area. It’s the third largest island of the Caribbean archipelago
after Cuba and the island of Hispaniola.

Now we are going to explain the climate of Jamaica. In Jamaica there is a

tropical climate which brings warmth all year round, even if the winter and
spring seasons are classed as dry season. The temperatures are around 25
degrees Celsius all year.

Jamaica is a land made of incredible landscapes. There is turquoise water and

tropical forests. The environment is damp and hot. The forests are grouped
into 3 broad groups, limestone forests, shale forests, and wetland forests. They
contain over 1500 vascular plant of which about 400 are only and endemic in
Jamaica. There is a huge variety of tropical and subtropical plants in Jamaica.
Now let’s talk about the fauna. There is a lot of birds in the Jamaican island, the
national animal of Jamaica is a colibri. There are 700 unique marine species.

Jamaica is a big producer of coffee (the Jamaica blue mountain). They also
produce bananas, sugar and bauxite. Their exportation is a major point of the
economy of the state. Jamaica has privileges links with Commonwealth’s
countries and the USA. Their economy is weak and not too diversified. The
Jamaican Island tourism is high thanks to its location. The USA are next to the
country and the Caribbean landscapes are what attract tourists the most.!

Jamaica is in a zone with high risks of earthquakes and tsunamis. The country
already went through a lot of hurricanes, the last one named Sandy was in
2012. But the biggest hurricane the Jamaica has experienced was in 1988, it
was named Gilbert. On a scale of 1 to 5 it was the most dangerous (5/5).

Now let’s talk about the sustainable future of Jamaica. Jamaica has a
sustainable development program named the “hub Jamaican logistic” in a
partnership with China who has for goal to position Kingston in the global
production line following Rotterdam, Dubai and Singapore. This project could
afford 10 000 jobs when it’s going to be done.
We can say that Jamaica is a beautiful country who has magnificent
landscapes. Unfortunately, Jamaica is full of poor villages and is a corrupted
country.
