National Energy hosts the 2024 SPETT Annual General


Meeting
On April 30, 2024, the Business Development and Innovation department, in conjunction
with the Asset Integrity Management team and the Society of Petroleum Engineers of
Trinidad and Tobago (SPETT), hosted a hybrid session titled “Asset Integrity
Conversations.” The event featured guest speaker Mr. Derrick O’Keeffe at National
Energy’s Point Lisas Meeting Room. Subsequent to the hybrid session, Ms. Liana
Roopnarine, President of SPETT, approached National Energy with a request to host their
Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for May 28, 2024.

In preparation for this significant event, Mr. Daren Ragoonanan, Manager – Business
Development and Innovation at National Energy, will represent at the AGM. His
responsibilities will include briefing the attendees on the company’s safety protocols,
ensuring that all attendees are well-informed.

In efforts to ensure a smooth and successful AGM, National Energy’s Facilities and ICT
departments are diligently working on preparing the venue to meet all logistical and safety
requirements, while the ICT team is focusing on setting up the necessary technology for a
seamless hybrid experience, accommodating both in-person and virtual attendees.

These preparations underscore National Energy’s commitment to safety, innovation, and


collaboration within the industry, aligning with the company’s core values and strategic
objectives. As the AGM approaches, the collective efforts of various departments at National
Energy aim to provide a conducive environment for meaningful discussions and networking
among industry professionals.

Innovation / Ideation Training at National Energy


In its most recent restructuring, National Energy moved forward by introducing several new
portfolios to differing departments. The once before Business Development (Non-RE)
obtained its new and profound portfolio of innovation thus leading to the Business
Development and Innovation department.

In its attempt to move forward and take a leap into the innovative culture at National Energy,
the department has been continuously pursuing new methods and initiatives to promote and
foster an innovative culture within the organization. The initiatives began mid 2023 with an
innovation framework and has continued into 2024 – with an Innovation Workshop for the
Executive Management Team (EMT) in February 2024, facilitated by CEO, Plain White
Table, Mr. Lorenzo Hodges.

To ensure the organization’s thrust into this new realm is successful, the department pushes
forward with other initiatives for the 2024 year including the implementation of an Innovation
Strategy and an Innovation Workshop for Middle Management.

Delivering on the SLA with LABIDCO – project analysis


On February 29, 2024, National Energy and LABIDCO signed a Service Level Agreement
(SLA) for the provision of services from several departments at National Energy to those at
LABIDCO. One of these included the provision of business development services, which
would be provided via National Energy’s Business Development and Innovation team; Mr.
Daren Ragoonanan and Mr. Alex Lochai.

To better understand the desires of LABIDCO, the team visited the Port of Brighton (PoB)
and LABIDCO’s estate on April 04, 2024, where LABIDCO would have given an overview of
all business operations and the potential projects within the upcoming year. The department
has continuously supported the LABIDCO team without hesitation to ensure all business
development projects are tight-knitted. Some of these include:
