Building Instructions For The Relay Circuit For The Low Beam and The High Beam On The T4 From MY99
In the picture, the SPT (female) and JPT (female) are already crimped onto the cables. I ran out of
SPT contacts at that time.
1. Cut the cable to length and crimp on contacts.
• Divide the red cable about halfway and strip the ends (approx. 7mm)
• Press two cable ends of different cables into the 4-6mm² SPT contact
• Crimp a Faston contact to each of the free cable ends
• make one white and one yellow cable according to the following
scheme: Faston – 40cm cable – SPT (female)
• make one white and one yellow cable each according to the
following scheme: Faston -30cm cable – SPT (male)
2. Insert contacts into connector housing:
• Insert the male SPT contacts into the connector housing 1J0 972 762
• Insert the SPT contact on the red cable into the connector housing for the cable
distributor class 30 (7D0 937 311)
• Insert the JPT contact on the brown cable into the connector housing 701 906 231
• per relay holder:
◦ plug the Faston contact on the red cable into the relay holder at slot 2
◦ Plug the Faston contact with the brown cable into slot 4 or 6
◦ Plug the Faston contact on the white or yellow line with the male SPT contact
into slot 6 or 4
◦ Plug the Faston contact on the white or yellow line with the female SPT contact
into slot 8
• Plug the relay into the relay holder
• Plug housing 191 972 751 into plug housing 1J0 972 762 so that it does not get lost
until installation.
I hope this guide helps to shed some light on the relay circuit. VW relays with the number 273
