Based on the operating environment described in Chapter 1 of the textbook, the current business

environment for Williams 3D printers can be analyzed in five factors: government, economy,
competition, customer, and quality.
1. Government: Government affects William 3D printers in areas such as environment,
safety, product liability, and taxation. For instance, the company should be careful with
the safety compliance of 3D printers, or else they may end up facing legal liabilities.
However, environmental standards may extend to the types of materials that may be used
in the development of the printers and in the manufacturing processes. This may add to
the operating costs but is essential given legal necessities and to gain relevancy within the
markets.
2. Economy: The company is now expanding in the growing market, which defines the
market as still in the early stages of its life cycle. Nevertheless, in operating input,
economic fluctuations can impact the availability of materials resources and skilled
human resources. For instance, there might be a shortage or rise in the price of materials
during economic downturns, threatening production plans and profits.
3. Competition: Due to the numerous competitors in the market, William might need to
come up with new strategies and better ways to perform operations. Williams may have
problems trying to differentiate itself from its competitors by providing the company's
unique designs and better quality since competitors may provide additional features,
lower prices, or other customer services. In addition, the company has to remain up-to-
date with market trends and competitors' actions to maintain its competitive edge.
4. Customer: Williams 3D Printers has been able to meet these expectations by creating a
good reputation in the market. Nonetheless, as the production unit is expanded, the
company comes across certain problems, such as quality and delivery deadlines.
Customers also demand additional services like pre-sales counseling and post-sales
services in the form of follow-ups, which the company has to afford to maintain and
expand its customer base.
5. Quality: Williams 3D Printers needs to ensure that their products are dependable and
effective to achieve or surpass the expectations of their clients. This has to be done
efficiently so that only high-quality products are produced and released on the market.
The focus on quality results in differentiation from competitors and creating sustainable
customer relationships for Williams 3D Printers.
