When repairing an FAR2xx7 Radar, it is important to note that RFC and Modulator PCBs
are not universal or interchangeable, and special care must be taken to ensure you
match the correct RFC board with the correct transceiver and modulator boards. There
are several variations of each PCB, which if installed into the wrong transceiver, can
damage components. It is also very important to ensure the correct software version is
used with these PCBs.

We have created a document to help clarify the compatibility of the RFC and Modulator
boards in FAR2xx7 Radar Transceivers. The document also provides details on how to
check the PCB version numbers, and in the case of the RFC board, confirm the
software version. A copy of this document is available on the FAR2xx7 product pages
on our website or by clicking here.

Alternatively, replacing the entire transceiver in the field can reduce time spent on-
board, and also help avoid follow up visits. This will also help avoid potential
incompatibility issues mentioned above. The used transceiver can then be sent back to
Furuno USA, Camas, for a full diagnostic check. We will confirm the correct power out
and frequency, plus we will inject an appropriate test signal into the receiver path to
confirm the limiter and MIC are working properly. Once the problem is diagnosed, we
can provide a price quote for the unit to be repaired and returned to you to be used as
a "ready spare."
