LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE GRADE III

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson learners should be able to Identify observable characteristics that
are passed on from parents to offspring (e.g., humans) with 80% accuracy. S3LT-IIg-h13

II. CONTENT:
A. Reproduction among humans, animals and plants and certain observable characteristics that are
passed from parents to offspring.

KBI: APPRECIATE INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES IN TERMS OF APPEARANCES

A. Curriculum guide K-12 Science 3 p. 41, web.
B. Power point, visual aids, handouts, and activity sheets.
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Drill:
 Action song (Body Parts)

B. Review:
 Identify the body parts (Pictures).

C. Presentation:
 Discussion of concepts.

Living things reproduce their own kind. Humans, animals, and plants pass on their
physical traits/ characteristics such as the shape and color of the eyes, the color of the hair and
skin, the shape of the nose and the lips, body built and height are passed on to the child.

 Show pictures of the different characteristics of humans. E.g.

 Eye shape;
 Eye color;
 Hair color;
 Hair type;
 Skin color; etc.

D. Developmental activity:
 Group the class into three. Let then answer the following activities.

Group: 1
 Match the offspring with the correct parent.

Group: 2
 Use the picture of the woman and identify her characteristics by checking the boxes in
each category.
Group: 3
 Complete the head by drawing the given characteristics.

E. Enrichment activity:
 Checking of the group activity.
 Generalization ( recitation )
 What are the different characteristics of human that are passed from parents to
offspring?
 Innumerate the different colors and types of e.g. eyes, hair and etc.?
 Should we bully people that does not have the same characteristics like us?
 Should we appreciate our differences with other people?

F. Assessment:
 Answer the following questions with true or false.

Ex:
__________1. Robert’s parents both have black hair that is why his hair is black.

G. Assignment:

 Take a picture with your parents and list down 5 characteristics that you have acquired from
them. Paste it on a bond paper.
