“TECHNOLOGY-ASSISTED TEACHING”

Technology-assisted teaching - refers to the use of technology in the

instruction.
- technological devices are being integrated in the classroom

Technology-Aided Instruction and Intervention (TAII) - an instructional

strategy where the students’ goals in the classroom are achieved with the
help of technology. (Odom et. al. (2015) )
- this strategy is the use of any electronic equipment, gadgets,
item and virtual network application for improving daily productivity, work,
recreation, and total living.

Odom et. al. (2015) presented these five (5) essential steps in incorporating
the technology-assisted strategy:

1. Identifying clearly defined goals

The first step is to establish a clear objective among the students. The
target class objectives you want the students to achieve influence the type of
technology to be selected for the class.

2. Conducting technology assessment

The next step is conducting technology assessment among students
and stakeholders such as parents, school administrators, school support team
and other staff. Assessing the students’ readiness for a certain type of
technology is also very important before implementing technology-assisted
instruction.
It is very essential to determining if the available resources of the
classroom, school. And even at home fit well with goals for teaching.
Spending time with students to ask them which type of technologies is easy
and familiar to them is a good start. Then speaking with the parents and
school administrators is also needed to know if these resources are ready for
use at home or in the classroom.

3. Teaching the students on using the technology

Before jumping to technology-assisted instructions, students must be
taught first the basic processes of how the technology is used in the
classroom. This will save time later on for the teacher if students already have
a clear grasp on how to use the technology. Moreover, this will maximize the
use of technology-assisted instruction.

4. Evaluating learner’s progress

As the teacher implement the technology-assisted strategy in the
classroom, monitoring must be done along the way. Evaluating the progress
of students can determine students’ success in the classroom tasks. It can
also address possible gaps in the use of technology in the classroom points
out need for intervention.

5. Continue planning the next steps

The results form implementing monitoring the technology-assisted
instruction int the classroom play a very essential part. This will help the
teacher to decide whether to continue or stop using the strategy. This will be
further based on the achievement of targeted goals in the classroom.

FINAL ACTIVITY:
Direction: Group yourselves into 5. Within your group, read the literary piece
below and discuss how technology-assisted strategy will be used in your
lesson and write your answer in a graphic organizer. Choose a leader within
the group. Present your answer in front.

FLOW OF DISCUSSION:
1. Discuss what is the poem all about.
2. Discuss the graphic organizer.
3. Discuss how important is technology literacy in teaching the poem.

Kissing In Vietnamese
Ocean Voung

My grandmother kisses
As if bombs are bursting in the backyard.
Where mint and jasmine lace their perfumes
Through the kitchen window
As if somewhere, a body is falling apart
And flames are making their way back
Through the intricacies of a young boy’s thigh,
As if to walk out the door, your torso
Would dance form exit wounds.
When my grandmother kisses, there would be
No flashy smooching, no western music
Of pursed lips., she kisses as if to breathe
You inside her, nose pressed to check
So that your scent is relearned
And your sweat pearls into drops of gold
Inside her lungs, as if while she holds you
Death also, is clutching your wrist,
My grandmother kisses as if history
Never ended, as if somewhere
A body is still
Falling apart.
