AST

Aspartate Aminotransferase Assay Kit (IFCC)

Biossays® Clinical Chemistry

Intended Use
The Snibe Biossays® AST reagent is intended for quantitative determination of aspartate aminotransferase in human serum.

Assay Principle
AST present in the sample catalyzes the transfer of the amino group from L-aspartic acid to α-ketoglutarate forming
oxaloacetic acid and L-glutamate. Oxaloacetic acid in the presence of NADH and malic dehy-drogenase, is reduced to
L-malic acid. In this reaction NADH is oxidized to NAD. The reaction is monitored by measuring the rate of decrease in
ab-sorbance at 340 nm due to the oxidation of NADH to NAD.

Assay Characteristics
Expected Values Adults: <40 U/L (95th percentile)

Limit of Detection (LoD) The LoD for AST is 5 U/L.

Measuring Range 5-800 U/L

Precision 2.22-4.26% (32.16-414.41)
