Snowstorm To Reach S Plains


A roller coaster temperature ride, plentiful moisture and a complex storm, will bring a soaking to the southern Plains late this week, along with the seasons first significant snow for Kansas. Precipitation starts Thursday and lasts until Sunday across the region.

The next Texas storm is currently spinning off the Pac NW Coast. It will head SE across California to the SW states by Thursday.

Saturdaymaximum temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s across Kansas, cold enough for snow.

The peak of the storm is expected to be Saturday, with heavy snow and rain across the region. (Saturday afternoon shown).

Sundaythe storm passes...temperatures drop well below freezing across Kansas, the OK Panhandle and NW Texas and snow will have aligned from NM to OK to N MO. 1-2 inch rain and accumulating snow equivalent will be an issue late this week across the southern Plains. Storm totals show 0.25-0.75 inches of water in SW KS and the OK Panhandle and 0.50-2.00 inches in SE KS, C OK, C and E TX. Early indications bring 6+ inches of snow in Kansas.
