INTERVIEW

Interviewer: Good afternoon! We are here with Camila; she is an expert in interior decoration and
has great knowledge about old houses. Soooo… Let's talk about rooms, furniture, and gadgets,
both in the past and today. What are think?

Interviewee: Good afternoon! Thank you for that presentation, I'm really excited to talk about it,
emmm… here's where to start.

Interviewer: Ok! Tell me, what are the main rooms in a house today?

Interviewee: Well, today, the main rooms are the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms.

Interviewer: Were there the same rooms in 16th-century houses?

Interviewee: Actually not, there weren’t. They had a hall or parlor instead of living rooms and
rooms were smaller and more crowded back then.

Interviewer: Is the furniture today very different from the 16th century?

Interviewee: Yes, it is. Today, we have sofas, armchairs, and coffee tables. Back then, they had
wooden benches and tables.

Interviewer: Are our kitchens more equipped than 16th-century kitchens?

Interviewee: Definitely. Now, we have stoves, ovens, refrigerators, and microwaves. In the 16th
century, they only had fireplaces and basic pots and pans.

Interviewer: Were there any gadgets in the 16th century?

Interviewee: Not like today. They had basic tools like spinning wheels and clocks. Today, we have
smartphones, laptops, and smart home devices.

Interviewer: How about lighting? Was it as good as today?

Interviewee: No, it wasn't. They used candles and oil lamps. Today, we have electric lights that are
much brighter and safer.

Interviewer: Do we have more decorations in our homes now compared to the 16th century?

Interviewee: Yes, we do. Today, we have paintings, photos, and various decorative items. In the
16th century, they mainly used tapestries and simple carvings.

Interviewer: Is the furniture today more comfortable than it was in the 16th century?

Interviewee: Yes, it is. Today's furniture is designed for comfort with cushions and ergonomic
designs. Back then, it was mostly hard wooden furniture.

Interviewer: Were there bathrooms in 16th-century houses?

Interviewee: No, there weren't. People used chamber pots. Today, every house has bathrooms
with toilets and showers.
Interviewer: Thank you for sharing this comparison! I liked having you here. That is all.
Interviewee: Thank you for inviting me and giving me such an interesting talk.
