Appreciation of the poem .
“The Inchcape Rock"is a informative as well as philosophical poem or ballad.
Robert Southey is an English poet. He is a nature as well as spiritual poet.
The central theme of the ballad is to aquaint the readers to Abbot of
Aberbrothok. It also highlight the theme of good versus evil.
The poetic style of the poem is very picturesque. The description of the
nature and sea is amazing. Poet has used difficult but meaningful words. The
rhyme scheme ‘aabb’ embedded the beauty. The communicative narrative
increases the curiosity of the reader. The frequent use of Alliteration and
Tautology maintains the flow of the words.
The message given through the poem is conflict between the good and evil.
Finally good always win over evil. It describes that the villains are always
punished by the nature power. Good work is always appreciated and bad work
is always criticised.
I think poet has highlighted that our role in nature is to make it more beautiful
and livable. Our prime concern should be service to man.
