SKILL-

Build problem solving and design skills.

Name shapes.

Apply math skills including measuring, comparing and counting.

PREP-

Print the challenge cards on cardstock to give them extra durability. If you’ll be using the
activity in a classroom, you may also want to laminate the cards for extra durability.

(Optional) Punch a hole in the upper left hand corner of each card and hook them
together with a binder ring.

Print one record sheet for each child.

Grab a basket of pattern blocks.

ACTIVITY-

Picking up one card at a time, kids use their pattern blocks to build the solution.

Then they write the number of each pattern block used to solve the challenge on their
record sheet and grab the next card in the stack. © Playdough to Plato.
