Intended Use
The Snibe BiossaysTM LDL-C reagent is intended for quantitative determination of low density lipoprotein
cholesterol in human serum.
Assay Principle
The Snibe LDL-C assay measures LDL-C in the specimen using a two-step procedure. First, non-LDL-C, including
chylomicrons cholesterol, VLDL-C and HDL-C, are decomposed by cholesterol esterase and cholesterol oxidase,
respectively. The H 2 O 2 produced are finally decomposed by the action of catalase. Then, an LDL-C-specific
surfac-tant is used to release the cholesterol and the enzymes react with LDL-C to produce H 2 O 2 which is detected
through a Trinder reaction.
Assay Characteristics
Expected Values Adult: 2-3.1 mmol/L or 77-120 mg/dL (2.5th -97.5th percentiles)
