Challenges That Students Encounter Now Full Face-To-Face Is

Implemented

The full implementation of face-to-face classes once again has marked the beginning of
a fresh start in the new normal. Sara Duterte, the Vice President of the Philippines stated that
“Face-to-Face classes are the best option for students. After two years of long-distance
learning, schools have opened their gates for this year’s school year 2022-2023. It was when
Sara Duterte, the Vice President of the Philippines ordered all the School Divisions to implement
full In-person classes. ‘’DepEd is cognizant of the current situation of private educational
institutions due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. We allow them to recoup their
investments in online learning technologies, the development and institutionalization of best
practices in blended learning, and the unfortunate closure of small private schools’’, Duterte
said.

The Implementation of In-Person classes was successful and students are now at the
peak of learning new lessons and doing school activities. But despite all of these, students are
still struggling with this new form of education. According to our crowdsourcing, the problems of
students are mostly lack of sleep, multiple activities, and mental health problems such as social
depression and anxiety. One of those students who struggle is Cassandra Lacuesta, a senior
high school student from Ilocos Sur National High School. “My current concern with full face-to-
face implementation is currently the shifting of senior high school and adjusting to the normal
school schedule after 2 years. I find it difficult to wake up early at dawn for the morning shift,
while I have problems with socializing in the classrooms after 2 years of modular.”, she said.

We conducted crowdsourcing and interviewed 18 people. Most of their concerns were; Lack of
sleep, Quizzes on the same day, Socializing, Time Management, Depression and Anxiety, and
Multiple Activities.

Some say we need to pursue In-Person classes, some say we don’t. The transition of blended
learning into full face-to-face classes shocked, astonished, and even dismayed students. But
even tho, The Department of Education are still pursuing face-to-face classes saying that “this is
the best option for students”, and that will allow them to learn in school again, which is the main
place of learning for two years of being stuck in their residences.
