1986 Manual Transmission Servicing

LUBRICATION

SERVICE INTERVALS
Check fluid every 7500 miles or 12 months. Replace fluid
after first 7500 miles and every 30,000 miles thereafter.

CHECKING FLUID LEVEL


FWD I-Mark
Remove speedometer cable assembly located on driver’s side of
case, above drive shaft. Ensure fluid level is between "L" and "H"
marks on speedometer cable bushing. If needed, add oil to bring fluid
level up to "L" mark. Install speedometer cable.

All Other Models


Ensure fluid level is at bottom edge of fill hole.

ADJUSTMENTS

LINKAGE
FWD I-Mark
Place transaxle and lever in neutral. Turn adjustment nuts,
one cable at a time, until shift lever is in vertical position.
Tighten adjustment nuts. See Fig. 1.

Shift linkage is integral with transmission housing and
requires no external adjustment.
