MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF STUDIES MEETING

Board: ECE

The Chairman of BOS welcomed all the panel members for the meeting. The item listed
in the agenda were taken for discussion.

The following are the minutes of the meeting


Agendum 1: Confirmation of the previous Meeting Minutes

Discussion: To confirm the previous BOS Meeting Minutes.

Resolution: The chairman confirmed the previous meeting minutes of BoS.

Agendum 2: Action taken on the previous Meeting Minutes

Discussion: To discuss the action taken on the previous BoS Meeting Minutes.

Resolution: The chairman discussed the action taken on the previous BOS Meeting Minutes.

Agendum 3: Scrutiny of stakeholders’ feedback on existing curriculum and syllabus for


B.Tech-ECE (Full Time/Part Time).

Discussion: To scrutinize and accommodate the suggestions revealed by stakeholders and to


incorporate them as revised syllabus for B.Tech-ECE (Full Time/Part Time).

Resolution: The members of the Board thoroughly scrutinized the existing curriculum and
syllabi and the abstract of stakeholders feedback on B.Tech-ECE (Full Time/Part Time) and
unanimously recommended to introduce the new elective courses with syllabi for B.Tech–ECE
(Full Tine) and to introduce the new courses with the revised curriculum for B.Tech–ECE
(Part Time).

Agendum 4: Scrutiny of stakeholders’ feedback on existing curriculum and syllabus for


MTech Communication Systems (Full Time/Part Time).

Discussion: To scrutinize and accommodate the suggestions revealed by stakeholders and to


incorporate them as revised syllabus for MTech Communication Systems (Full Time/Part
Time).

Resolution: The members of the board have unanimously recommended to introduce the new
courses with the revised curriculum and syllabi for M.Tech Communication Systems (Full
Time/Part Time).

Agendum 5: Introduction of newly added Elective courses in BTech-ECE (Full Time).

Discussion: To introduce the syllabus content of newly added Elective courses in B.Tech-ECE
(Full Time).

Resolution: The members of the Board scrutinized the syllabus contents of the newly
introduced Elective courses in B.Tech-ECE (Full Time) and resolved to introduce the same.

Agendum 6: Introduction of newly added Value added courses.

Discussion: To introduce the syllabus content of newly added value added courses.

Resolution: The members of the Board scrutinized the syllabus contents of newly added value
added courses and resolved to introduce the same.

Agendum 7: Discuss the Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), Programme Outcomes


(POs) and Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) of BTech-ECE (FT/PT) and MTech
Communication Systems (FT/PT).

Discussion: To discuss upon the Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), Programme


Outcomes (POs) and Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) of BTech-ECE (FT/PT) and
MTech Communication Systems (FT/PT).

Resolution: The members of the Board scrutinized the Programme Educational Objectives
(PEOs), Programme Outcomes (POs) and Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) and resolved
to continue with the same for BTech-ECE (FT/PT) and MTech Communication Systems
(FT/PT).

Agendum 8: Recommend the panel of Examiners for B.Tech-ECE (FT/PT).

Discussion: To recommend the panel of Examiners for B.Tech-ECE (Full Time/Part Time).

Resolution: The members of the board also scrutinized the panel of examiners and
recommended to continue with the same panel of examiners for the B.Tech –ECE (Full
Time/Part Time).

Agendum 9: Recommend the panel of Examiners for M.Tech-Communication Systems


(FT/PT).

Discussion: To recommend the panel of Examiners for M.Tech-Communication Systems (Full


Time/Part Time).

Resolution: The members of the board also scrutinized the panel of examiners and

Systems (Full Time/Part Time).

Semester: I Board: Biochemistry
Course Code/Name: NUTRITIONAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Unit Content
I Concepts of food and nutrition. Basic food groups-energy yielding, body building
and functional foods. Modules of energy. Calorific and nutritive value of foods.
Measurement of Calories by bomb calorimeter. Basal metabolic rate (BMR)-
definition, determination of BMR and factors affecting BMR. Respiratory quotient
(RQ) of nutrients and factors affecting the RQ. SDA-definition and determination-
Anthropometric measurement and indices – Height, Weight, chest and waist
circumference BMI
II Physiological role and nutritional significance of carbohydrates, lipids and protein.
Evaluation of proteins by nitrogen balance method- Biological value of proteins-
Digestibility coefficient, , Protein Energy Ratio and Net Protein Utilization.
Protein energy malnutrition – Kwashiorkar and Marasmus, Obesity-Types and
preventive measures.
III Balanced diet, example of low and high cost balanced diet- for infants, children,
adolescents, adults and elderly people. ICMR classification of five food groups and
its significance food pyramid. Junk foods- definition and its adverse effects
IV Food additives: Structure, chemistry, function and application of preservatives,
emulsifying agents, buffering agents, stabilizing agents, natural and artificial
sweeteners, bleaching, starch modifiers, antimicrobials, food emulsions, fat
replacers, viscosity agents, gelling agents and maturing agents. Food colors,
flavors, anti-caking agent, antioxidants. Safety assessment of food additives.
V Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods: Definition, properties and function of
Nutraceuticals, food Supplements, dietary supplements prebiotics and probiotics,
and functional Foods. Food as medicine. Natural pigments from plants–
carotenoids, anthocyanins and its benefits.

ITEM 1: It is suggested by the Board that the course 24152C13P – Digital Electronics, is
re-designed, updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 2: It is suggested by the board that the course 24152C14P – Electronic Circuits - I,
is re-designed, updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 3: The Board had suggested that the course 24152C22P – Communication Theory
is re-designed, updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 4: The Board had suggested that the course 24152C23P – Linear Integrated
Circuits is re-designed, updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 5: It is suggested by the Board that the course 24152C24P – Electronic Circuits -
II, is re-designed, updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 6: The Board had suggested that the course from III semester, 22152C33P –
Digital Signal Processing be shifted to II semester and renamed as 24152C25P –
Discrete-Time Signal Processing and updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 7: It is suggested by the Board that the course 24152C32P – Digital
Communication, is re-designed, updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 8: It is suggested by the Board that the course 24152C34P – Transmission Lines
and RF Systems, is re-designed, updated all the 5 units in syllabus.
ITEM 9: The Board had suggested that to redesign the lab course 22152L35P -
Microprocessor and Microcontrollers Lab be revised as 24152L35P – Digital Signal
Processing and Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab so as to learn the digital signal
processing concepts and about the Digital Signal Processor.
ITEM 10: It is proposed by the Board that the course 24152C51P – Optical
Communication instead of 22152C51P - Optical Communication and Networks is to
understand the latest concepts in Optical Communication.
ITEM 11: It is proposed by the Board that a new course be introduced, 24152C73P –
Adhoc and Wireless Sensor Networks instead of 22152C73P - Telecommunication
Switching and Networks to incorporate fundamentals in Adhoc and Wireless Sensor
Networks.
ITEM 12: It is proposed by the Board that a new elective course 24152E44DP –
Machine Learning Techniques be introduced to understand the cutting-edge techniques of
Machine Learning.
ITEM 13: The Board had proposed that a new elective course 24152E44EP - Nano
Technology and Applications be introduced to provide a broad view of the nascent field
of nanoscience and nanotechnology to the students.
ITEM 14: It is proposed by the Board that a new elective course 24152E54EP - CMOS

M.TECH Communication Systems (Full Time & Part Time)

ITEM 1: The Board had proposed that a new elective course 22271E16D/22271E33DP - Real
Time Embedded Systems be introduced to provide a broad view of the nascent field of
nanoscience and nanotechnology to the students.
ITEM 2: It is proposed by the Board that a new elective course 22271E16E/22271E33EP -
ASIC and FPGA Design be introduced to study the fundamentals of analog circuits and MOS
device models.
ITEM 3: The board members are suggested that 22271E24D/22271E23DP - VLSI for Wireless
Communication be introduced to
ITEM 4: It is proposed by the Board that a new elective course 22271E24E/22271E23EP -
Advanced Digital Image Processing be introduced to study the fundamentals of analog circuits
and MOS device models.
