CHEMISTRY INVESTIGATORY PROJECT

CHECKING ACIDITY AND ALKALINITY IN EVERYDAY PRODUCTS

MY RESEARCH QUESTION: To test the acidic nature of my everyday products using


natural hibiscus flower indicator.

HYPOTHESIS:

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

1.Soap

2.Shampoo

3.Nail Polish

4. Tea/Coffee

4. Lemon

5. Curd

6. PH paper (Hibiscus flower)

7. Scissor

PROCEDURE:

1. Prepare PH paper by rubbing Hibiscus flower over white paper


2. Cut the paper into many small strips (each measuring about 7 cm long and 1 cm
width)
3. Dip the PH paper on the materials taken to test acidity.
4. Note the colour changes (acid changes into red colour and if it is alkaline the
colour change is just blue)
5. Tabulate your data and findings)
