Task A B C D E F G H I
Predecessors - A A B B, C C D, E E, F H, G
Time Please check excel file

Objective:

You are provided with an Excel file. Your task is to calculate various project scheduling
parameters, determine the project duration, identify the critical path, and analyse the impact
of budget increases on project acceleration. Use the attached submission template to record
your calculated answers and submit the assignment.

Important Note Before You Begin:

Inside the Excel file, you will find your name and student ID. It is crucial that you locate your
name and corresponding student ID, as this will direct you to the specific project data set
(identified by the project number) that you are responsible for analysing. Ensure that you
only work on the project assigned to you.

Part 1: AOA Network Calculations

Using the Excel file and locating your assigned project, perform the following:

Calculate the Earliest Start (ES) and Earliest Finish (EF) times for each activity within
your project.
Determine the Latest Start (LS) and Latest Finish (LF) times for each activity by
performing a backward pass starting from the last activity in your project.
Calculate the Total Float (TF) and Free Float (FF) for each activity in your project.
Identify the Critical Path for your project by analysing the Total Float of activities.
Compute the overall Project Duration based on the activities' finish times within your project.

1
Part 2: Project Acceleration
The client would like to pay a maximum of 18% extra on the direct cost budget to fast track
some of the activities. The indirect cost for the project is 100 dollars/ day. Please analyse the
following:
Identify which activities could be fast-tracked (i.e., have their duration reduced) without
affecting the predetermined sequence of tasks.
Determine how many days could potentially be reduced from your project's total duration
through fast-tracking.
Calculate the new overall project cost after applying the budget increase to the selected
activities.

Deliverables:
1. Upload a word file of your completed submission template
2. Upload your calculated figures in the following Google Sheet (only input values
under your name. Do not change values uploaded by other students)
https://rb.gy/wzo2ih
Note: if differences are identified between values in the word file and the Google Sheet, marks
will be given based on the Word file.

Score configuration:

• ES, EF, LS, LF, TF: 0.5 points each for each calculation of Early Start, Early Finish,
Late Start, Late Finish, and Total Float, respectively.
• New ES, New EF, New LS, New LF, New TF: 0.5 points each for each calculation
under project acceleration conditions.
• FF, New FF: 1 point each
• Critical Path: 1 point each for judging whether each activity is on the Critical Path.
• Project Duration: 2 points for calculating the project's duration
• Total initial direct cost, Total crash direct cost: 1.5 points each
• New budget for direct cost, Initial indirect cost, New indirect cost: 2 points each
• Initial total cost (direct+indirect), New total cost (direct+indirect): 3 points each
