1 General
Prior to mounting an electrostatic precipitator, an erection plan must be worked out in co-operation
with the client and the erecting company.

Planning must, e.g. include:

Fitting in the precipitator erection in a major erection work.

Start-up date as required by the client.
Manpower, cranes and equipment of the erecting company.
Delivery times for FLS machinery.

The supplied equipment must moreover have been checked against parts list and shipping
documents.

Following that, an ERECTION PROGRAM must be worked out, see Fig. 1.

Directions for man-hour consumption and kind of work are obtained by means of Fig. 2.

Fig. 3 shows an ACTIVITY PROGRAM for a complete precipitator erection which may be of
assistance for determining the erection sequence.

2 Time consumption
Fig. 2 is based on experience from a number of erection jobs, but is only for guidance of the FLS
erector when planning is worked out.

Fig. 2 has been worked out with factor 1. The following factors may used for guidance:

Nothern Europe. USA : Factor 0.8 - 1.2

Southern Europe : Factor 1.2 - 1.8
Latin America. Africa : Factor 1.5 - 2.5
Middle East. South America : Factor 2.0 - 5.0

The distribution of mechanics, workmen and welders is 1-2-1, since there is always a minimum of 2
mechanics.

Concerning welding, please note that welding of gantries must be done by certified welders.

Example of using Fig. 2:

A 200-tonne precipitator to be mounted in Northern Europe (factor 1) requires 47 man-hours
per tonne, corresponding to 9,400 man-hours or an average of 12 men for approx. 20 weeks of
40 hours each.

Average distribution:
3 mechanics
6 workmen
3 welders
