General Overview

1. “Knowing where you want to go” is an important step in the job search process.

2. An equally important step is “knowing yourself”. Success in your job search will depend
on having clear and confident responses to questions such as:
 What are your strengths?
 What would you like to do?
 What are you good at?
 What do you have to offer?
 What type of work interests you?

3. Most students do not think that they have any skills or experience to offer an employer.
While many students may not have much experience in the actual workplace, all
students do have skills to offer a potential employer.

Instructions: Using suggested free self-assessments instruments - Occupational
Interest Quiz (Handout #1), TypeFocus.com (MBTI), and three (3) other “Free Self-
Assessments” found on the internet - summarize your findings. Your findings are to be
specific and detailed that includes:
 Five (5) of your Strengths (Abilities + Interests)
 Two (2) Weaknesses,
 Summarize your findings, (Be specific), and
 What corrective actions can be taken to address the “areas that require further
professional development.”?
 List Findings for each of the tools (Assessments)
