ORIGIN OF POP

Pop was born as a musical genre in the mid-1950s in

the United Kingdom and the United States. Although
it is true that a few decades earlier, specifically in
1926, the first expressions referring to popular music
began to be used.
 CHARATERISTICS
Pop music songs are characterized by simple compositions,
based on a repetitive verse-chorus structure, the latter also
usually being catchy and easy to remember. The rhythms and
melodies are light in nature and the songs last on average
between three or four minutes.
