TOPIC: NEW BOLTS/NUTS AND TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR ROLL-

OVER/CRADLE TO BOOM MOUNTING
CONCERNS: DRILL RIGS USING ANY BOOMS LISTED BELOW

The Owner of machinery has a liability to inform and when necessary to train according to the content of this Bulletin all the
personnel (like operators, maintenance personnel) whom this Bulletin concerns.

Sandvik has updated the instructions concerning mounting the roll-over or cradle to the boom. The update
includes new bolts/nuts and new tightening torques. Attention must also be paid to that any locking agent will
no longer be in use.

The booms, which this update concerns, are:

 SB20 – SB 40, TB40 – TB150, SB60 – SB150

 TB60i – TB150i, SB60i – SB150i
 SB20NV – SB40NV
 SB60P

The correct tightening torques for the new (class 10.9) bolts and nuts are 550 Nm and the threads
should be lubricated before tightening the bolts or nuts (the tightening torques for previously used
class 8.8 bolts and nuts are 490 Nm). The new bolts, studs, bushings and nuts are also updated from
class 8.8 to higher 10.9. Double lock washers are in use as in current assemblies (added also in
cradle to i-series booms assemblies).

 Currently cradles are mounted to i-series booms with studs, ID 55201139 (M20x90), bushings, ID
55200687 and hexagon nuts (cap nut), ID 81826789 (M20).
 The mounting is updated to studs, ID BG00360590 (M20x1.5) (Qty 12), bushings, ID BG00360892
(Qty 12), double lock washers, ID 85128339 (Qty 12) and hexagon nuts (standard nut), ID
BG00360831 (M20x1.5) (Qty 12).

Further details to Customers:

This bulletin updates the information given in bulletin 16/2013. Sandvik recommends reviewing the bulletin.

Correct tightening torques must be checked with an adequate tool at the beginning of every shift. If bolts
need replacing, only Sandvik OEM bolts are to be used.

This bulletin does not entitle any warranty claims.
