Title: Seminar-Workshop on Seashells (Recycling)

Theme: Malikhaing Pangkabuhayan mula sa Pagrecycle ng mga Shells
Participants: Pitogo Extension Class/Vincenzo Sagun Extension Class
Date: Open
Venue: Main Campus Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga Del Sur

Rationale
In today’s fast-paced and consumer-driven world, especially in the Municipality of
Pitogo Zamboanga Del Sur, many kinds of problem faces specifically the landfills of any
kinds of sea shells. A shell landfill relies on a liner system to prevent pollutants from
leaching into the groundwater. If the liner is not properly designed, installed, or
maintained, it can lead to contamination of the surrounding environment. Shell landfills
often receive a wide range of waste materials, including hazardous waste, which can
pose significant environmental and health risks if not properly managed. Uncontrolled
disposal of hazardous waste can lead to contamination of soil, groundwater, and
surface water. But rather than that, it can resolved that kind of problem in enjoyable
ways.
Recycling shells helps reduce the environmental impact of waste disposal. When
shells are discarded in landfills, they can take a long time to decompose and may
release harmful substances into the environment. By recycling shells, we can reduce
the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, thereby promoting environmental
sustainability.
Workshop recycling for shells involves the process of collecting, processing, and
repurposing shells from various sources, such as seafood processing facilities,
restaurants, and households. Here is a general overview of how workshop recycling for
shells can be implemented:

1. Collection: The first step in workshop recycling for shells is the collection of
shells. This can be done by setting up collection points at seafood processing
facilities, restaurants, or organizing community shell collection drives. It is
important to ensure that the collected shells are clean and free from
contaminants.
2. Processing: Once the shells are collected, they need to be processed to remove
any remaining flesh or organic matter. This can be done through methods such
as washing, drying, and crushing the shells into smaller pieces. The processed
shells are then ready for reuse in various applications.

3. Repurposing: The processed shells can be reused in a variety of ways. Some

common applications of recycled shells include:

Crafts and Art: Shells can also be used in artistic and craft projects to create
decorative items.

Education and Awareness: Workshop recycling for shells can also involve educational
initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of shell recycling and its benefits for
the environment. Workshops, seminars, and outreach programs can help educate the
community about the value of recycling shells and how they can participate in the
process.

Objectives
The seminar workshop aims to:
1. Equipped participants with the knowledge and skills to start a sustainable Shells for
business by recycling.
2. Promote sustainable practices that help conserve natural resources and protect
ecosystems.
3. Provide hands-on experience in creating a variety of shells patterns and designs
depends on the creativity or the results.
