LA LECTURA
Reading comprehension is the process of constructing meaning by
learning the relevant ideas of a text, it is also defining a text and
relating them to concepts that already have meaning for the reader. It
is important for each person to understand and relate the text to the
meaning of the words. It is the process through which the reader
"interacts" with the text, regardless of the length or brevity of the
paragraph.
Reading is a process of interaction between thought and language;
the reader needs to recognize letters, words, and phrases. However,
when reading it, it is not always possible to understand the message
contained in the text; It is even possible that it is understood in the
wrong way. As an intellectual skill, understanding involves grasping
the meanings that others have conveyed through sounds, images,
colors, and movements. It is a process where decodings are given
according to the context, secondary ideas, etc.
Reading comprehension is a more complex process than identifying
words and meanings, this is the difference between reading and
comprehension. It is a basic skill on which a series of related abilities
are deployed: oral management, pleasure in reading and critical
thinking. It is a cognitive task that entails great complexity since the
reader not only has to extract information from the text and interpret
it based on their prior knowledge.
Understanding is considered an active process due to its nature and
complex due to its composition. "... a process from text to subtext is
essential, that which constitutes its central internal meaning of
communication." For this reason, it is necessary to carry out a process
of reader-text exchange in which linguistic and sociolinguistic
elements are integrated through different tasks and in which learning
strategies are oriented so that they help comprehension to be carried
out more easily. and learning is more effective.3 Comprehensive
reading requires that the reader be able to integrate information into
units of meaning, in a representation of the content of the text, which
is much more than the sum of the meanings of individual words.
