1.2 Safety
Only qualified and system-trained service staff is allowed to perform CT system installa‐
tion, service, maintenance, and quality assurance. Ensure that the most recent versions of
the service documentation are on hand. To avoid any risk of injury to persons and/or dam‐
age to the system, read the General Safety Notes (TD00-000.860.01.xx.xx) and observe
all guidelines given there. Please read and observe the Product-specific Safety Notes
(C2-015.860.01.xx.xx) and Product-specific Safety Notes (C2-068.860.01.xx.xx) which
include very important safety-related information as well as information about the han‐
dling of screws and nuts, use of Loctite, and instructions for torque wrenches.
If the system’s original computer is configured to T11 with G1, then the hardware should
be replaced with 13B with 13P.
If the syngo language is not English (United States), it must be changed to English before
the backup is made to ensure a complete restore process.
n In the syngo user menu, select Options > Configuration.
n In the configuration panel, double-click Regional and Language Options.
n In the Format tab card, select English (United States).
n Confirm the reboot
To prevent data loss, system backup must be done before ICS and IRS re-installation.
In the process of upgrading VC40 to VC50, sometimes part of the backup error occurs,
follow SKB0106303 and manually backup the affected configuration. Storage path as
H:\Sitedata\
BIOS must be updated before installing VC50A. During the update process, do not power
off the computer.
If new ICS/IES is used to support the upgrade, then there is no need to perform the BIOS
update for corresponding tower.
Download the BIOS update file from the intranet and burn it to CD. It is a required tool
and must be available.
The system will restart automatically several times during the update process; do not
power off the computer.
You can re-install the IRS while installing ICS to save time.
When installing ICS, disconnect the network cable between ICS and IRS. Remove all un‐
necessary USB devices from ICS.
When system asks if you need to keep the original system partition after restore, choose
“No”.
VC50A is equipped with secure license which has a file to be uploaded for the 1st time.
Later, only the last 10 alphanumeric characters could be used for easy access.
n Click “Click here to start the Local Service Configuration” to start the service soft‐
ware.
n Select “Upload / Enter new Service Key”.

n Enter the system serial number, copy and paste the new service key strings into the
string fields.
n Click SAVE to enter service software.
If the service key file is uploaded, the computer has to be rebooted to activate the new
service license.
The system configuration data completed in this chapter will be overwritten by subse‐
quent chapter Configuration Restore, but some data cannot be modified once it is con‐
figured. Please ensure the correctness of the configured system data.
For syngo.via installation, due to the known issue, the device guide has to be disabled
and the system restarted. After the installation, the device guide has to be enabled and
the system rebooted again.
n Click Next or > to walk through all non-configured items until Finish appears at the
bottom. Click Finish.
n Click Select New License File and click Browse to select the new license file, then
click Save.
n Click Site Info under Local Host, click > to enter the next page, check and set the time
zone and time accordingly. Click Save if configuration has been changed.
n Click Application and then > to navigate to “MIP Rendering Algorithm” and set the
radio button as previous record and click Save.
n Click Technical to set the “3D Recon” option as previous record and click Save.
n Click Users to set the passwords for both meduser and syadmin and record the pass‐
words.
n Click SRS, then click Save to set the SRS configuration regardless of any error. Then
click > and Go to check the status.
n Click General under DICOM to set the local AETs as recorded before.
n Click Home and confirm the reboot.
After completing the installation and successful rebooting, a pop-up warning message of
“Maximum number of filters” may appear. Perform the following actions to solve this
problem.
n Open the Patient Browser and click Options > Filter settings > User defined.
n Delete all filter names only in the user-defined page.
n Reboot the system.
If you are using a non-English NLS language, and you find that the windowing name is
still in English, please follow the actions below.
Recovering steps for both ICS and IES can be taken in parallel to save time.
Before performing the backup restore in the ICS, make sure that the IRS is ready and run‐
ning and that the LAN cable between ICS and IRS is connected and the indicators on the
connection show a working status.
Maximize the window so that all groups can be selected by clicking the up/down arrow.
BackupRestore Running...; wait until Ready is displayed.
n Under Archive, select CT-Settings..., under Groups, select all items except TuneUpT‐
ables and click Go.
BackupRestore Running...; wait until Ready is displayed.
n Under Archive, select Security-Settings..., and click Go.
BackupRestore Running...; wait until Ready is displayed.
n Under Archive, select InSpace... (if available), and click Go.
BackupRestore Running...; wait until Ready is displayed.
n Under Archive, select SRViewer... (if available), and click Go.
BackupRestore Running...; wait until Ready is displayed.
n Under Archive, select AutoReport... (if available), and click Go.
BackupRestore Running...; wait until Ready is displayed.
If the restore is not successful, repeat this AutoReport in the next restore steps.
n Click Home, and confirm the system reboot.
n Connect the hospital LAN to the computer.
n Switch on the LCB to power up the gantry.
n During the startup process, confirm all prompted windows, but cancel the Checkup.
If errors occurred during the restore, please check if the error group is included in the
affected configuration list of the SKB0106303. If not, re-execute the restore steps for the
error group.
n Under Command, select Restore, under Drives, select the corresponding drive, under
Archive, select CT-Settings..., under Groups, select TuneUpTables and click Go.
BackupRestore Running...; wait until Ready is displayed. There should be no
error.
n If AutoReport was not successfully restored in step 1, repeat the step here.
n Click Home, and cancel the reboot requirement.
n Remove the backup DVD from the drive.
n Proceed to the Completion of Configuration section.
The IRS software installation can be started after BACKUP on the ICS has been completed
successfully. Only after the IRS installation is done can the restore in the ICS be started.
For IRS G2, power cycling the computer during software installation is prohibited.
n Switch on IRS, insert DVD SOM5_IRS_VC50A into the drive and power cycle the IRS.
n During software Installation, the DVD will be automatically ejected after approx. 10
minutes
If the DVD is not ejected after 40 minutes, switch the IRS off. Wait 15 seconds and then
switch it on again.
n Make sure the CD is no longer occupying the drive, then remove the DVD.
n Switch off the IRS, wait for at least five seconds, switch on the IRS, installation will be
continued automatically (This step is not necessary for IRS G2).
n Installation will be finished after approx. 30 minutes; check the installation by remote
connection if necessary.

Under the Time tab card, AM/PM may be deleted for a 24 hour time display.
If Chinese is selected, the previously checked “allow multiple character set” will be
checked off and unavailable - this is normal.
In the scan protocol, default selection is “scan from feet toward head”. If the operator
changes to “scan from head toward feet” in the subtask card before scanning Work‐
Stream4D, 3D recon images will be displayed upside down.
n In the syngo user menu, select Options > Configuration... > Protocol Assistant.
n Go to the affected scan protocol.
n Click Next until “No scan protocols were changed” and “Do you want to continue” are
displayed.
n Confirm with Yes.
If the message “...please wait...” shows up in the window for more than one minute,
please shut off ICS&IRS and wait for three minutes. Power on the ICS&IRS after three mi‐
nutes.
n Place the measuring chamber approx. 5 cm in front of the beam path with the aid of
the light localizer.
n Go -> (for DIADOS Reset) -> Start button to observe the SW prompts.
n Enter the value output by the dose meter in the SW.
n Enter the length of the dosimeter. (Refer to the Dosimeter Instructions from the sup‐
plier, normally it is 10cm)
