Failure Consequences
• Ripped belt
• Excessive or accelerated belt cover wear
• Overloading the compensating adjacent rollers
• Damage to frames and structure
• Screen failure
• Tracking issues
• Belt fires
13
Failure Consequences
Personnel exposed to harmful roller failures or failure outcomes

Reporting Methods
• Provide a 24/7 early warning (min 13 weeks) wireless monitoring system to cover
conveyors rollers and pulleys, pumps, drives and screens for the mining industry
• Develop an energy harvesting system to power the sensors and the collectors
• Idler rollers – measure the vibration of the roller as the bearing fails
• Pulleys – detect bearing failure in the bearing housing by measuring vibration, heat
and acoustics
• Pumps – detect bearing failure by measuring vibration and heat and possibly
acoustics
• Drives – detect bearing failure by measuring vibration, heat and acoustics
• Screens – detect when the holding bolts break by measuring vibrations
• Monitor the signal on our Dashboard, send SMS notifications and email alerts
• Develop algorithms to produce the early warning signals via a traffic light warning
signal
• Early warning of catastrophic failures (instant failure, instant alert or shut down)
